What if. I know the RMK Tradition, but?
New Family blood could, should?.It's all the rage.
What ya'll think?

No. Absolutely, positive... N_O_T. Randall, luckily for us, does not to care about "all the rage". All rages pass, Randall will stay the same.

Now... plenty of RMK owners have done cold bluing at home on their 01 blades. Just sayin'.

;-)

LOL,,,,Not only coated, but abstract handle materials too?Its a new world. How do you know it's not in the works right now?
Sufler,,,Cold Blueing?.I'm interested in any kind of Metal Munipulation..any link to said process?

You can supply your own handle material. If you look on the bay right now, you'll see plenty of RMKs with some funky handles on them. The one you supply has to be cut to their spec, within the 5-limit option, and you're willing to take the risk of the handle material being damaged in the manufacturing process.

RMKs take on the best handle materials for the knives is in their own catalog. You should request one and read through it (free to within U.S.).

Google "cold bluing knives" - lots of info and YouTube vids.

Thanks Sufler...
Gotta say, kinda like the way V did the knifes.flat black w/ a bead blasted brass hilt.can't tell but looks like he bb the handle as well.maybe rought it up for better grip?At least he knows quality and gives RMK props....

The best one for coating is the #18. It looks hot that way.

This is how mine turned out with Bronze Cerakoating. The guard being cropped to under the lashing holes was forced on me because Randall put the guard on way crooked laterally, and that was the only way to undo this flaw while keeping that particular knife/blade shape (18s are so different, a replacement by Model number hardly means anything)... I liked that blade shape, and its edge is now re-ground to just under 20° inclusive, no micro-bevel, by Razoredgeknives, who did an incredible job on the edge (and did the guard trimming and Cerakoating extremely well too...)

Again, the guard was forced on me by the misalignment, but the knife now sits (perfectly) in the Eagle sheath of an Al Mar Special Warfare, and after a while that combination has really grown on me. The Cerakoating is not really an option on 0-1, in my opinion, as this stained while washing fingerprints... Sheesh...

Randall's finishing these days also has a lot of "swirls" and weird goings on, and I don't mind seeing those surface issues disappear under a tough coat...
