I've inherited some Randall knives, I'm going to sell a few and I have a very basic question.
Why are they sold in the production knife section? These are hand forged knives, made by skilled labor, and are put together by hand... Why are stock reduction knives like Dozier considered custom when Randalls aren't? Maybe this should go to general knife discussion?????

Some people like ro play semantics with words, and some don't.

The RMK forge mark may be the last handmade american production knife left, with just a few others that might be permitted to be named in the same conversation.

I do not see how being a standard production model and being hamdmade, is not a positive rather than a downgrade in status. Bein made on the production level is the amazing thing, they don't make a one off, they make hundreds often enough and with enough accuracy from knife to knife they have maintained a customer base spanning more than one or two generations of customers, says everything.

Production, in this case is not a negative trait, but i remember asking the very same question omce.

Ah. This discussion has only been going on for about the last 40 years or so. If it hasn't settled out by now, it probably never will. I'm not in the mood at this early hour of the morning to get into a full blow-by-blow, but if you poke around here, you'll find that it's been discussed ad nauseum in the past.

ad nauseum, ad infinitum, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera...

Please forgive the spelling, damn smart phones make you post stupid. :D
