Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here and straight forward I have a question to ask :)
(sorry)

Couple years ago (6-7 years back), friend of mine gave me this Randall Gilbreath's custom made folding knife. I am not sure how he's got his hands on it or what's the story as I can't contact my friend anymore (moved into another country).

You see, I don't know much about knives (still just learning) but I can't seem to find any contact on Mr. Randall Gilbreath to ask more about it.

So can someone tell me (from the photos below) what's the most probably the type of material used on a handle and the knife's blade (type of steel)? And at how much would you price this folding knife?

Also, if by any chance you know how to contact Mr. Gilbreath, please let me know.

Thanks guys.

I've contacted arizonacustomknives.com, who had Gilbreath listed, but no answer. :(

It's very light, so assume it's a titanium handle. But, I am not sure what blade materials Mr. Gilbreath used to use on his folding knives.

Well if someone has any clue, please let me know.

It's defiinitely a titanium frame....an abused, munged up thrashed titanium frame.

Steel is probably ATS-34....It probably originally sold for around $300.00....with the current finish...it is worth between $25.00 and $50.00.

If you contact Randall, do not try to purchase any more knives from him or attempt to get him to refinish it for you, his track record is simply not very good.

Any decent maker worth his salt can get this piece back into sellable condition for you for about $50.00, provided the mechanics are solid, and you might at that point be able to sell it for around $100.00.

All this of course, my opinion.

Thank you very much, this is exactly the type of information I was looking for. Thanks for your time.

BTW. What do you mean by saying: "his track record is simply not very good". Do you have any experience with this knifemaker?

Yes, I was a dealer of his, so was Les Robertson....he was an excellent maker, but delivery times, and ESPECIALLY repair work could take months past the quoted time.
