Randall knives

Are randall knives good? Are they forged? What steel are they? Are they handmade?
In particular I'm looking at the model 1 all purpose fighting knife.

All of your questions will be answered. The number 1 is the classic American fighting knife.

Randall knives have a very good reputation. I believe all models except the model 10-3, 10-5, 10-7 are forged. As for forged knives I think they use O-1. I think they use 440-B on their stainless models. Don't quote me on that though. If you see a "S" next to the blade stamp it indicates stainless. The company claims that no two knives are alike. They are handmade without the aid of jigs/templates.

While that link does show the process (I've seen it before at Randall's site) the page only says "carbon steel". This link tells about the two steels available. http://www.randallknives.com/faqs/ Oddly, they list O1 but don't say at all what version stainless steel is used. Must be a secret.
