Randall Logo Depth Strike

Curious to know if the various depths of the logo from one knife to another are the result of a machine or arm? Machines tend to be consistent, so one could conclude stamp depth is a sort of Rockwell hardness test. If hand struck, maybe just the mood of the fellow doing the stamp. -Richard

I’ve been told the black in the stamp is from the forge, so I’m pretty sure the stamp is done when the blade is hot and soft.

Even if not done when the blade is hot, it would never be done after the blade was hardened. So no not like a Rockwell test at all.
