The Randall Model 18 Commemorative came about as follows: About 1987/88, when testing the blades for the Randall 50th Anniversary Commemorative, some of the blades broke at the tang. Later, rather than discard them, it was decided to weld Model 18 stainless handles on them. Approximately 12 of these knives were made. These blades measure 7-1/4 inches. These knives are not etched. "W.D. Randall, 1938-1988". The blades are stainless but are not marked with an "S".
The one shown here, was sold in 1991 via the catalog I presented then called, "Randall Made Knives, Legendary Randall Knives For Sale". This particular knife, #P347 is show on page 32 and sold for $2,500.00. I recently purchased this knife back, when I bought the original purchaser's collection.
Best regards,
