I had the opportunity to hang out with WD "Bo" Randall's grandson today at the Randall Made Knives Museum in Orlando and it was an amazing experience! Just to see the actual 1937 Scagel knife that inspired Bo to start making his own was mind blowing. Bo Randall had an big collection of not only his own creations, but many other manufacturers as he was a true knife-aholic like many of us. It's hard to take in everything on display and now that I know where it is, I'll have to make another trip back with the kids. You get glassy-eyed just looking at all those amazing works of art! Talking with Michael was a great opportunity to get a small look into the life of Bo Randall and how everything progressed over the years. They're still very specific on how they make their knives, kind of "my way or the highway" attitude!

Thanks Doug, not exactly sure how to go about that. I don't do too many posts on here n tried to get it under right forum.

It's a neat collection. Can you still see 'em putting the edge on by hand? I saw a fox on the driveway in. If in Orlando you'd be a fool not to stop.

They touched up an edge for another guy there and let us peek in. Big Norton stones and polishing wheels. They etched his name on while he waited also.

I thought it was cool that a "factory" puts on the final edge with a stone. It's what makes Randall...Randall. Is the museum in good shape? I was there awhile ago and it needed an update, which I read was in the works.

They've converted or remodeled the old Randall house, I think Michael said last April. It's really nice now and has tons of display cases, some of which still have to be filled. He said there used to be just a bunch of knives pinned up on the wall. They also have the letters from Ronald Regan and other servicemen and poster displays of old news clips and photos. Upstairs has some TV displays running old film of the company history.

I guess they're backlogged on orders until Feb. of 2020. 30% of their knives go out to distributors. Michael said they're going to have some knives at the Orlando Fairgrounds gun show in March.

ZD, thanks for the share! Doug, this is probably fine here for now; I'll move it to the Randall Made Knives sub-forum in a few days, if that's OK with the mods here. RMK's, while typically a handmade production knife, are still an inspiration for many custom makers and collectors.
