What are some specifics do you look for, to get an idea of when a Randall was made?

I don't think a Randall is a custom knife.

Randall's are benchmade knives. That is they are made by more then one person so aren't classified as true custom knives.Which to me is no big deal I happen to like Randalls. The problem though lies in that the gentleman who runs this forum is a stickler for anything posted here to be a true one person handmade knife. Thus Randalls and Reeves are a no-no to discuss here. I think that was what Desert Rat was refering to in his answer. You might just want to repost this on the General Forum in order to generate a better or more lengthy answer to your question.

There's already an active thread on Randall knives on the general forum; I started it and got a lot of responses from knowledgeable folks; you might want to check that thread out.
