the title pretty much sums it up. i love the model 10-5. http://www.randallknives.com/catalog.php?action=modeldetail&id=86
So, what are my options for a blade of similar design and function at maybe 1/2 the price? The only thing coming to mind is the falkniven f2. Are there others?

if i was to go custom who would you reccomend that works with 12C27 or maybe even Aus6 if hardened around 60 Rc?

Martin knives may make what you're looking to find:

They do a lot of similar designs to Randall and the link I posted seem similar to a #10. Not 1/2 of the Randall price though, but much quicker ship time.

I recently got one of their blades. Fit and finish was great as was the sheath. Was rather disappointed with the grind of the blade though. Had to get it to a semi-pro I know to get the grind to where it should have been in the first place.

The Randall model 10 is in ATS-34 steel if that helps you with your search. Personally, I'd just go for the Randall. IMHO, the potential re-sale value alone justifies the higher price. But I appreciate that it's a lot of money.

Good luck!
