Fellow Collectors,
I just recently purchased a model 11 4.5 in knife in a JRB sheath with narrow stitching and am I trying to narrow down the year of manufacture. The blade has the "FLA" marking and the handle has five spacers. It came with an orange sharpening stone which has been used lightly so I see no evidence of any lettering remaining. During what year did Randall begin supplying knives with the orange sharpening stone?

Thank you,

Mid 1970's. The tight-stitched JRB's were generally replaced with looser stitched variants in the mid 1980's. Hope that helps.

Sir,
Thank you. It is my first model 11. It is lightly used and the sheath has aged gracefully-still has a lot of life. It will make a good hiking & camping companion.
