hey guys,

I like the 11 Alaskan skinner the most out of the randall designs, it looks,...... practical and has a unique look to it, and it's also, ya know, a randall

I would like to use this knife. however be able pass it down to my kids one day. (as it seems just the kind of knife for something like that.)

I know the deposit is only $50, but should i pull the trigger? Should i wait 5 years? If I could buy a knife of similar construction, and same "old" fashioned classy look to it, please point me to it. Just, keep it under $500 ;)

Thanks guys,
-Richard.

If that is what you want then yes I would say go for it. :)

The wait will be worth it.

Go for it. I really like that knife in the 4" model. I will get one eventually.

I bet most of the folks that actually go this road, have a model in waiting for the rest of their lives. At least i have so far.

Martin knives. (under hidden tang hunting and camping on his website)
Blackjack.

I have absolutely no regrets about the wait, nor the money. I own a few Randall's, and i continue to order new models.

While I have only owned the Model 5, 8, and 23. I think the Model 11 is a great design and a very nice looking model.

If you don't own any Randalls and the model 11 turns you on, you should definitely order one.

I sold my model 8 but I use my model 5 and model 23 and plan on giving one to each of my sons.

If that is what you want I would say yes pull the trigger I have always loved that design. If you do though make sure you go through AG Russell because you will get it in about 1/12th of the time you would through Randall.

For a less costly alternative check out Blackjack knives. They are nearly as beautiful as Randall's but A LOT cheaper. They are actually made by Bark River so you know they are very well made knives. I'm also about to pull the trigger on one.
