what do you all think of the model 10? I am thinking of a 10-3" or 10-7. They seem hard to find.

Arden,

Lots of guys like, use, and swear by the Model #10-3. I've had a few, in both blade grinds, and always found the handle to be too short, even for my medium sized hands. The #10-7 looks pretty cool, but seems like it would be overkill on all but a really large fish. That said, I just bought a '80's vintage walnut handled #10-7 with JRB sheath, and ordered a new one with a red micarta handle and black sheath. I guess it depends on what you're planning on doing with it. Still, I like the #10-5's as the best compromise of the three...

what kind of price do you think I should be able to get one for? I know catalog is 225 and if I am willing to wait I can get one in about 6mos. I have been dealing with the Clinton's for years

Ring the Randall shop, you may just get lucky,I picked up a 10 - 7 last summer out of the showcase, its only one phone call :)

I have an Older 10-7 and it's been a great work knife in the kitchen.
The 10-5 above is my latest and seems to be a little more reasonable length.
I've got a 10-3 inbound this fall...well worth waiting for.
The 10-7 is a little big for general household chores, imho.
