Not beeing so many Threads on the Randall Made Knives Collector`s Forum, i thought i would start a Thread. As title says, Randalls vs. other brands, here you can compare your Randalls to other brands.

Beeing first one out, anyone who can tell me if there is any significant diffrence in quality between Randall and the clones when it comes to quality- primary thinking about handle issues?

Even though other brands may make very good (even excellent) knives, I find that the Randall quality--the shaping, the materials, and the fit to the knife Randall handle--is outstanding. The feel of the Randall in the hand is the best of any of the 'clones' that I have held.

When it comes to stacked leather, I think Randall wins hands down...they've got a lot more experience making them and it shows. The stag handles I have on my vintage Blackjack knives, in my opinion, are just as solid and good looking as their Randall counterparts...as a matter of fact I've got one particular Trailguide in red stag that is just about the prettiest handle I've ever seen. Now, the micarta handles are purely personal preference. If you like a more full handle, I'd go Randall, but if you'd prefer a narrower, more tapered handle, the Blackjacks are hard to beat, but my Cold Steel R1 is my favorite to actually use. I'm not sure if it's because of the texture, or lack thereof on the other handles, but it just seems to work better.

Of course this is all just one guys opinion...but if you're looking for overall quality, fit and finish as well as resale value, there is really only one choice. You just can't beat a Randall.

I've always felt that Strider and Randall served similar needs from different eras.

This is my Strider MT-L and Randall Model 14 CDT. I think they are an interesting contrast in design philosophy with the same intent, even down to the sheaths.

Thanks everyone for taking your time posting here and allso thanks a lot for the nice pics. Got my Black Jack and my Coldsteel R1 long time before my first Randall and had newer been using them at all, not that i dont put my trust in the quality, cause i do. After getting my first Randall#5-6 and felt it in the hand, i instantly fell in love with that knife and decieded it to be my user.
