I recently traded for a Randall 1-7, mostly for sentimental reasons. I plan to use it because it reminds me of a very special friend who is no longer alive. It is very well made and I have stropped it to a crazy hair popping edge. I know Randalls have a huge following of collectors but are there others who use them?

Randall knives make for great users.

Granted, the high price keeps most of them pristine, but they are still very functional field tools.

I was weak for the Model 14 Attack, but could not deal with the finger grooves and the Border Patrol style handle was hard to find.

I did trade into a BlackJack HALO Attack with the Border Patrol handle that filled my need for a Randall (without breaking the bank).

Once I had this knife in the field I decided to mod the guard a bit,

...overall it has worked out very well for me. :D

I'm sure your 1-7 will seve you well.

I carried a 15 on my gear when I deployed and will continue to use it when needed.

Also, traded for a nice skinner a few years back, it was used when I got it and I will continue to use it.

They are fine knives and yours should serve you well. Use it and enjoy it!

Randalls are great users. Price or sentimental value is what keeps most in the safes.

Thanks for the pics so far. It looks like we may get to hike for a couple of nights soon and I plan to take my Randall along. It needs to acquire some "character".

Indeed, I'm a Randall fan. The #14 has always been my favorite model for use (the large oblong hilt was not an issue). My uncle's primary knife is a #25-6". #3 & #5s make great trail belt knives.

Anyway... I have no doubt you'll be extremely happy with your #1. It's interesting how many historical figures have carried that model on their belt (from Reagan to Westmoreland and more).

ahh...Randall made....I collect them all...but the ones I carry are...a 14 made with o1, finger grip handle, a 16 ss with saw teeth and finger grip handle, a 18 5.5 ss, smooth grip compass in cap with saw teeth and an 17 astro....my wife carries a combat companion o1, with border patrol handle, but sometimes I mix it up and carry some of these other fine brands, chris reeve ,angus arbuckel ,peter bauchop. but I do love Randall Made and chris reeve the most.

I thought I had a good picture of my #15 on my mil gear...but I can't locate it:mad:

Anyways, I've had my 15 for over 10 years and it's seen several countries in South America, Egypt, Iraq and more recently Afghanistan. My son already put dibs on it:eek:

I have a model 16 dive model that I carried in the field while in the National Guard(LRS Unit).Got the nylon kydex lined sheath and carried it on about a dozen static line jumps, several waterborne ops and snorkeling while on vacation. Lately I carry a Bark River Bravo 1 or JK EDC due to smaller size.

Those are some great pictures of some really nice knives. It's nice to see Randalls getting used. Thanks for sharing them with us.
