Blade: 3,4", OAL: 7,6"
Random Damascus forged by Manfred Sachse
Handle: Grenadill, mammoth-ivory

I don't remember seeing a handle shaped like this before, I think I like it!

Thanks ABA
Good to see also nice knives from european makers here! Not enough though....

DANKE. Irgendeine Homepage oder so was???

This is one of those knives that I really liked the minute I saw it. It looks fantastic and like it would make a great user at the same time. Do you know what steels are used to make this random damascus? How thick is the blade? It looks very thin, but it is hard to tell for sure. Grenadill is a very hard and heavy wood and was the perfect choice on this knife. Obviously the mammoth ivory is the small spacer.

Does this maker have a web site?

Ralf has no homepage yet. He is a parttime-maker since 25 years.

the sheath is made from "laminated" leather -> 2,5mm "normal" leather and 1,5 mm embossed leather.

the thickness of the blade is 3,8 mm and hollow-grinded. not a "heavy" user, but it cuts very well.

the steels manfred sachse used for the damascus he forged are unfortunately unknown. But the edge has a fine grain and could by sharpened extremely well to a "hair-popping" sharpness.

More makers should have a web site. If Ralf showed this kind of quality to the world I would be willing to bet that he would sell a lot more knives. Then again, maybe he doesn't want to.
