I'll write a sorta review later on when I get time. Full work schedule + 16 units of school is kinda getting to me... It'll be an in hand review more than a user review.

Cool post!

Any chance of a chop off between the KZ and the HI?

possibly, but my schedule is 8am-10pm school monday and wednesday, and full work days everywhere else so I don't know if I'll be able to get around to it. The HI was polished up and had it's edge thinned a bit by steve fergussen. It's from one of the ram drawings. I re-did the handle when the scales sheared (being held on by aluminum pins).

what the knife was:

What I used to baton it with (and hit the scales with which sheared them - the baton/club was like 5" across):

some of the wood I split with it:

if you like big overbuilt blades, HI is hard to beat. the bottom knife in this lot (from a long time ago) is an 18" ang khola. the biggest is a 30" ang khola.

Thanks for the pics! Good in-hand shots. That Zilla handle looks like it would be nice and comfy while chopping.

Those pics make th KZ look small...not to mention the NMFBM!

it's definitely a matter of perspective:

this is the moab next to the 30" ang khola

and this is the kz

I really wish I had done that first shot tighter... Looking at it now it's suprising to see the difference between the moab and the kz. moab = more blade less handle, kz more handle less blade. The moab feels way more solid and complete then the moab did. The moab was more of a bar of plate steel. The moab is to the ffbm what the killa zilla is to the cghogfsh.

Whoa.... very cool stuff. Funny thing is... most folks on this forum would consider the Tankbuster a "large" knife. ;)

Great pics Bro, like the hilt hand hold shots!!! That K-Z is wearing on me bad now, and I still love the BOSS. Just wish Jerry made it in Sage/Tan.

as a short description of my in hand thoughts on the kz, it's a heck of a lot better than the nmfbm. more than anything I think it's the handle. The only fusion handled blade that I've held that felt as solid and whole as the kz is the cghogfsh. every other fusion handled blade either felt like a piece of bar stock or just not quite right.

With the fusion handles the pinky area is pretty small and the palm/finger swell is pretty round. the result is that the knife rotates in your hand as you chop.

With the KZ the index and finger area's were thickened and the indent between the center of the palm swell and the back of the pommel was removed, so the palm swell forms a straight line down to the lanyard hole. The result is a much more secure locked in grip, one that doesn't rotate inside of the hand like the fusions do. with the mags and the consistent top to bottom grip pattern, you get more of an axe handle feeling, where everything is uniform and tight.

Where the fusion handles are made for more of a whipping action, the kz is extremely well suited and dedicated for chopping.

The kz feels more like a lightish 20" ang khola then an 18" for those who are used to hi's ak's.
