I have a 1510 with the 440v blade, but the handle is not in the best shape. The blade is new. I wanted to know if the old blade will fit in the new version 1515 without being modified? I like the tip up of the new model and all the specs look the same on paper. If anybody knows the answer, I would appreciate some help. Thanks.

A lot of the time, the lockbar will be different along with other subtle changes. As an example, the 1420/1421 talon and the newer 1425 talon are not interchangeable due to different lock faces and lockbar lengths. So I'd assume no but theres only one way to truly find out!

I like the polished micarta handles on those oldies!

The original owner drilled the other end of the handle to make it tip up. I did not mind that, but the super cheap screws they use on the handle get distorted when you look at them wrong. Most of those screws were loose and not able to be screwed in any more. I stripped the knife and used two of the screws that were still good for a mini SOCOM handle screw that went missing. So now I have a small box of parts and a blade that looks like new made out of a great steel. I guess I will have to pick a RT2 and see what happens.

You could get a #2X56TPI Helicoil kit and anchor those pocket clip screws in a stainless steel threaded coil. The thickness of the handle slabs will provide a solid anchor for the screws, and you wouldn't need to tap into the liners. The original knives depended on the few threads in the steel liner to hold the pocket clip. A Helicoil will yield a much longer and stronger attachment. You can't depend on Phenolic plastic to hold a small machine thread screw.
