Hi all. I have seen a Randy Lee subhilt fighter that interests me, but having never seen or handled one of his knives in person, i dont know how his fit and finish compare to others. It LOOKS very good in the pictures, but id rather hear from someone who has one, or even better, several of his knives and can comment on the quality. Is his F&F flawless? His knives look similar to Holder, is the quality also there? Thanks.

I have one of Randy Lee's knifes and two of D. Holder's and i would say Randy's compare the D's which is saying a lot!

Have a Randy Lee Fighter w/fileworked mirror finished blade and carved Kudu horn handle - work is clean and beyond reproach - compares with best work you will find anywhere. Not as well known as some others but I think you'd be hard pressed to find much better work anywhere on stock removal fixed blades. I would grab that sub-hilt if I were you - have not seen anything he has done that wasn't superb - good sub-hilts are hard to come by and his are some of the best. Hope this helps!

P.S fit and finish is as good as D'Holder's - his knives also have flair.

Used to sell them in a retail cutlery shop in AZ. He was a friend of the company owner. Very good work. Fit and finish is superb. His mirror polish is impeccable. A real pro. His wife makes the sheaths still I think. Best leather sheaths I've seen. A Randy Lee subhilt eh? You'll be one happy man then.

Don't quote me on this, but, I thought that I read somewhere that Randy apprenticed with or was taken under D'Holder's wing at some point in time. I have a Randy Lee catalog and a lot of his knives resemble D's. His wife was still making his sheaths as of 2 years ago, I had her making all of mine as well. She would still be making them if I had the time to make knives any more.
