I just received my order for two OKC knives that caught my interest. A Ranger Falcon and a Ranger Afghan.

Question regarding product packaging... forgive my ignorance, but do all OKC knives come in a box? My Ranger Falcon came in the black OKC marked box, blade in a paper sheath, the warranty card, and the black nylon sheath. My Ranger Afghan was packaged inside of its black nylon sheath, in a sealed plastic bag with a bar code and item label and no warranty card inside.

The Afghan is the largest OKC knife I've ever purchased so my first thought is that the larger knives aren't packaged in a box, but I also wanted to ease my mind over any possibility of it being a factory second.

Normal?

I am happy with the knives, but still curious about the packaging; especially for warranty purposes. There are a couple of very small cosmetic flaws on the Afghan's finish and the grind of the edge widens toward the tip (is not even throughout, maybe that is by design?), but I am not sure those would qualify as defects. Otherwise the knife is very nice.

:D Here they are (also with measurements for anyone interested):

I just got both a SP50 and SP51 from 2 different companies and they both came in the black OKC box with the business size warranty card and the white cardboard covering the blade. And they have a fairly long blade. It is kind of nice to have the box if you are collecting the knives, giving them for gifts, or trying to sell them in the future.

And I will add the Ranger TFI and RD6 came in the same black box, just a bit smaller. And all the same packaging.

I don't know off hand how each knife is packaged, but they're not all done the same way, so none of that sounds alarming to me. Any seconds that get sent out would have a large, noticeable "2" burned into the handle, so not much chance of it being a second.
