Thinking of getting a Ranger knives RD7 as it seems to be the closest comparison to a Swamp rat Camp Tramp. I have seen a few RD7's with a recurve blade on them and was wondering whether the recurve or the standard blade would be a better option for a utility/hard use knife or what are the pros and cuts of the two different blade styles(I personally think the recurve looks better)

Thanks

An RD 7 with a recurve blade is a Custom from Justin. He will make you just about anything you want, for a reasonable price. I own a few Ranger knives myself, and like them very much.

Ranger knives has his own forum somewhere else. You might want to go there. Someone cut down a Poplar tree with their RD w/ recurve blade.

the only advantage i can really think of for the straight-edge version is if you are doing food-prep on a flat surface, or something like that. Also ease of sharpening. Besides that, i think the recurve is the superior chopper. I'm certain whichever one you decide on, you will find it to be one of the finest blades on the planet. enjoy it.
