Hello,

I'm kinda new here and was wondering first if the RD series varied in price directly by 10 dollars per blade length.... ex. Rd-4= 70$? Secondly how do people here use their Rd's?
I use my 6 for an indoor wood splitter but rarely outdoors because of the extremely humid climate in Fall/Winter/Spring.

Thanks in advance,

mmmotorcycle

I use the crap outta mine...I have 3 and plan on adding at least 3 more to my collection as well as a RD 9 that isnt beaten up!! :)

btw..

My Rd 3.75 "Wererabbit" is my EDC as a rule

The are worth about twice what ya pay for them so why worry is my motto!!!

I just ordered a RD6 from actiongear. I have not received it yet, but from what I have heard, they are good knives. I think I will do as Leatherface does, use the crap out of it. :D

Hey mmm...

What does the high humidity have to do with not using your knife outdoors ??

Well, they say a picture's worth a thousand words, so here's three thousand words worth of answer...

Justin makes awesome knives. I use my RD7 as it's meant to be used; cutting what needs to be cut and having fun doing it.

Justin does make AWESOME knives!! I have an RD 6, RD 4, and a "little bird". Top notch customer service, excellent prices, and he is a really good guy to boot!! I have also had the pleasure of meeting him in person.

ive used my rd7 for a while now and couldnt ask for better . just get one and tell us what you think.

I split wood with my RD-7. I wouldn't worry about humidity. Just buy a Tuff Cloth and wipe it off before putting it away.

I have emailed him a couple of days ago but have yet to receive any replies from him. Is he in the midst of something??

He just moved, and is setting up his shop. He is currently at a trade show I believe. He said he will be ready to go in a few days.

I have several Rangers currently: RD 3.75 in S7 steel,RD 6,RD 7 Recurve,RD 9 and TAK.Have also had the TFI and RD Hawk. They are all excellent tools!!!!!

I ordered an RD-6 and when it arrived it would not even cut a piece of paper and several spots on the edge were "flat" and shiney. I tried to re-configure the cutting edge and in the process the black coating startind just flaking off. I finally got a good cutting edge on it and it seems to hold the edge fairly well, however, the coating on the blade is still flakey. I don't think I will be ordering anymore knives from Ranger Knives as I feel the real test of a knife company is in its "quality control" and consistancy. I think Ranger has a ways to go yet in their QC.

FWIW
Ciao 4now
