hello to all,

i own many fixed blades as well as folders but rarely have i seen blade that was built (overbuilt?) like this one.

i mean, seriously, i like them tough but this thing is really extreme. it must weigh at least twice what my seal pup does (or my howling rat for that matter), it is a true tank.

i can't wait to see a destruction test on this one...it looks/feels totally immune to abuse. definitely not for the person that enjoys a lightweight mora!

I have a choilless RD4 that I like a lot. It's a tank, but it has a nice full flat grind and a convexed edge, so it does cut, too. ;) For those among us that are afraid their knife might break in heavy use, an RD4 would certainly bring some peace of mind! :D I like all the RDs, but the RD9 is my definite favourite. Justin at Ranger Knives really knows what he's doing.

I have an RD 4 back when it was strictly a custom order, and before it was sooooo popular!! I LOVE mine!! It is tough as nails, as are ALL Ranger knives! I LOVE my RD 6 as well. And like has been said, Justin IS a great guy.

I recently got an RD7 and its a Beast !!!!!! Love this thing :)
Hoping to pick up some more Ranger offerings in the future. Very impressed with them, and the price is right too !

As the Ranger forum guys know, I have a Custom RD-4 "Afghan" Justin modified to my specs, I put a small extended pommel on it, and shaved about 1/2 inch off the back, and 1" off the length. And also opened up the choil. So its a 3.5 Samhain-Afghan, with orange G10 (glow spots too!). I personally think it rules.

Very impressive, thanks for sharing.

I don't know about destruction tests, but just today I used my RD7 to pry nailed-together 2x6s and 4x4s apart. What are those spiriled nails called? I used a hammer to drive the edge between the boards, then I PRYED with all my 195 lbs. It did get a tiny nick where I drove the edge into a nail with the hammer, but then I thinned the edge out quite a bit.

I also practiced some throwing with it once I got a big pile of boards.

It's fine -- I'm tired.
