OK, this maybe a repeat topic but I would like some opinions!!!! Most seem to side more with the ESEE blades but what about the Ranger Knives ? I mean is there that much difference? I have the RD6, I am considering the RC5, please give me some feed !!!! Thanks !!!!

Fit and finish (consistency of grinds and matching of scales to the tang, etc.) on the ESEE is going to be higher than the Ranger. Also, even though it's a saber grind, the ESEE's cutting geometry is a bit better than the RD6s I've seen, as ESEE's primary grinds take the knife down to being thinner at the edge shoulder.

On the other hand, if you order the Ranger from Justin instead of a distributor/Ontario, you can have it tweaked to your liking, where the ESEE knives do not have a customization option. At least, I THINK you can still order from Justin...shows how long it's been since my Rangers entered my stable. :o

Steel-wise, you're not looking at tremendous differences--assuming you're going for 5160 in the Ranger. Both outfits consistently put out properly heat treated blades, and in most uses, you won't be able to tell a difference.

I have the 5160, I need a kydex sheath for it, I better contact Justin? What about weight?

Hmmm....I don't have an RD6 anymore or I'd weigh them together. I can't find a weight listed for it on any site, either. The RC-5 is listed at 16 ounces. My guess would be that the Ranger is heavier, as its blade and handle (and therefore tang) are a bit bigger overall, and the tang is not skeletized as I believe the ESEE's is, but then the saber grind on the RC 5 may make them closer than they'd otherwise be.
