For a Camp/Survival Knife
Ranger RD6 OR ScrapYard Knives Scrapper 6

The Price differnce between the two is not even worth mentioning

The sheaths are similar (though scrappers costs extra)

The Rangers Slab handle May Be more durable but the scrappers seems wome vibration resistant.

any coments or prefferences, experiences good or bad Please l;et me know

I happen to own both. Both are excellent knives. But, I gotta give the nod to the Scrapper 6, for the Resiprene C handles, and the fact that it is from the Busse family of knives. I feel totally spoiled by the Scrapper 6. I also now understand why people LOVE Busse knives so much. I hope this helps.

It does
I kinda want to buy the scrapper in part to have something from the Busse family without breaking the bank

Does the Scrapper 6 fit in the RD6 sheath? I have the RD6, great knife overall, might like to try the Scrapper.

You know, I will go check and see if the Scrapper 6 fits the RD 6 sheath. I had a kydex one made for my RD 6, but still have the original sheath. YES, the Scrapper 6 DOES fit in the RD 6 sheath. The Scrapper 6 sheath has a piece of plastic at the mouth, to make it easier for one handed re-sheathing. That is the only difference.

That is why I got one!! I wanted one at Blade, but ran out of $$$. I decided to order one. By the way, if you DO order one, the Scrapper 6 comes sterile.

I suppose there's a Busse connection with the Ranger too, since I understand Justin uses old Busse blanks for the RD series.

I don't have a Scrapper, but I have 2 RDs. I've hammered my RD-7 through plenty of logs with no ill effect to the blade.

Thanks, that's great news Knife Collector. You just saved me from having to buy another sheath if I go with the Scrapper 6. Since I would only be using one at a time, sharing a sheath is no problem. How long did it take to get the Scrapper?

What Jeeps said!! :)

I DONT have both in front of me!

BUT

I have handled both and love both...

AND

Justin has costomer service that is next to none!!! Want something made?? shoot him a pm and you are set to go!!

Yes, all the black coated ones come sterile. You don't have an odd one.

Justin has INCREDIBLE customer service!! He is also a really great guy. I have had the pleasure of meeting him. I DO own both Ranger knives and a Scrapper 6. I am looking forward to seeing more of Justin's new stuff. I have seen a couple of his new blades on the Ranger forum. And like leatherface said, Justin will make you a custom knife at an incredibly reasonable price!!

ScrapYard Knives Scrapper 6... sound really good. Where I can get this one? Is it still available? Cheers!

I read in another forum that a guy recieved his Scrapyard knife in a no sharp condition. How about you TheKnifeCollector?

My cousin recently bought a Scrapper. I had the opportunity to beat the hell out of it, and I was extremely impressed. The edge retention on the SR-77 is more than adequate, and this thing can really chop for it's size. I'd always chose Rec-C over micarta, too, so I'm a bit biased.

Also, to the person who commented on full tang Ranger VS. "stick tang" Scrapper has apparently never seen the inside of a Rec-C handled Busse product. These knives are full tang, nothing stick about it, and they are an absolute joy to use over micarta handled knives.

Here's all I have to add...Ive emailed Busse about a custom over 10 times, and Ive gotten 2 replies, no quotes, and my last 5 emails have been completely ignored.

Justin from Ranger has responded to my emails, even during his move, and has been completely responsive to my inquires. My order has been placed, and Justin's money is waiting on him.

I wont ever contact Busse for anything special again, because they obviously dont need my money.

Hey Knifecollector,
maybe a review is in order at Elite Steel.........please ;)
