Ranger RD9 or Ontario RTAK? CHOPPERS

Hey guys,

I'm looking at a cheaper chopper option. These two came to mind.

I already have Scrap Yards, Striders & a Busse. So I'm not interested in any of these brands ATM. Try something different I say :D .
All mentioned above are not big knives, except my S6. But saying that, I feel I need a few more inches for a really decent chopper.

Which one. Are the Rangers still a great knife since the Ontario takeover? Or should I just go with the older Ontario line?

Thanks in advance

don't know if there are any changes in the quality, but why don't you reverse your thinking and buy an older ranger from the exchange here or the for sale forum over at knifeforums.com? you'll definitely get the old school ranger quality and probably save a few bucks as well.

Ranger RD9 all the way. An old one if you can get one, I dont think Justin will be personally handling warranty issues with the Ontario models AFTER the pre-order.

I've read several instances of RTAK's breaking during normal use. RTAK's are 1095, RD9's are made of tougher 5160 spring steel.

I think the RTAK's are longer and a little thinner, and would be better for machete type duties though.
