I bought one of the standard RD7 a few months back and liked it so much that I ordered another but with a flat grind. It arrived christmas eve just in time to be a present from santa. Justin did a fine job with it so I thought i'd post some pictures so anyone who is thinking of buying one can compare it to the original model. There both great knives luckily I don't have to chose between them.

Those look very cool!

Placed my order for a flat-ground RD-9 in S7 last night. May have to get an original, too.

Great looking pictures. You will have to let me know how it performs once you have a chance to take it out and chop some stuff with it. Thanks again and great looking pics.

Justin, looks like a lot of people like the flat grind! did it ever cross your mind to make the next batch of RD's flat ground? or at least some of them flat ground?

This is making the wait for my custom RD6 in 3V more exciting.

So many great knives from Justin.

Let me say thanks to everyone first for the great response and compliments.

I have thought about doing the next batch with a flat grind but it takes me longer to flat grind than to hollow grind so we will have to see if I can do at least a short run of flat ground one. ;)

How much did that flat ground RD7 run? I've got some after-Christmas money burning a hole :D

Shot me an email and we can work out the details and I will see if I can't help the burning stop. :D

I had mine ground from the thumb ramp down to the middle of the choil because I thought it would look good that way. It does but it means that section of the knife is thinner than if it had been ground from the front of the choil. I think it's thick enough but a friend said he would prefer it done from further forward so if you put your knives through a lot of hard use it's something you might want to consider.
