Rapid Price Removal

I just came over from the "Sales" forum and I swear I can't understand the huge rush to remove the prices from items that have been sold. Hell, in some cased the prices are gone when the sale is still "Pending Funds". What If i wanted to make a backup offer in case the deal falls through. I can't even consider it because I have no freaking idea what the person wants for his/her knife. Maybe I'm missing something here. Can someone tell me why sellers remove the price at all and certainly, why remove it before the knife is even sold?

He's right, man. People can do whatever they wanna do with their own sales thread.

I see where you're coming from but there's already been much discussion on the matter, and in the end it's out of your hands. This'll probably get moved, I reckon.

That has been a routinely discussed topic here - you can search and find many topics and opinions.

Ultimately it is the sellers choice, like poolhustler indicated - but I personally don't like people removing prices.

If sellers left the selling prices on the forum, it would leave a searchable history of the selling prices of knives over time.

One could say it is nobody's business what a knife sold for save for the seller and the buyer, but I would argue that historical price shifts are pertinent to the hobby.

I guess removal aligns with the BF policy of not allowing value information to non paying members, so there is that.

Yeah, it's their right, and I've pulled prices quickly myself... I didn't care about people seeing the prices they went for, it was just the best place to mark 'SOLD'. If others see a figure, sometimes they think it's available. Still, I recently wanted to see what a certain knife sold for, in case I wanted to sell mine down the road, so I private messaged the seller and politely asked. He could have told me to STFU/GTFO, but he was nice about it, and had no problems telling me. I wouldn't try it just to satisfy random curiosity, because some might take exception, or get easily annoyed... but I wouldn't mind giving someone the price I sold a knife for.

It's just one of those odd norms that occurs here. 90% of sellers probably have no idea why they do it.

General Knife discussion is to discuss KNIVES, not the practice of a seller removing their prices.
Technical Support is for this, and even so, it is the sellers prerogative. They can leave or edit the price. It is none of our business. This topic has been been beat to death, resuscitated and beat to death in spirit many times. When you see "SPF" consider the knife as good as sold and move on. There is no auctioning here so, it really makes no difference. The name of the game is to be quick and have the money ready the moment you see the item. Read the sellers terms and follow the instructions to the letter. You don't know exactly when the knife is sold, none of us do. That is the way this place and many other forums works. I'd start getting used to it as that practice will nto be changing anytime soon.

The rules are quite clear:
