I found the book Raptor Red, the story about an enormous velociraptor and her oddyssey in the Cretaceous period, by paleontologist Robert T Bakker. It was cheap at a library sale. I'd heard about Bakker, when I was interested in dinosaurs again after seeing Jurassic Park, and later reading the comic book Cavewoman. I had tried to read one of Bakkers books, basically postulating that some dinosaurs were warm blooded, and some had fur. Nope, I didn't read the entire book. I picked up Raptor Red with some hesitance, but have found it to be a very well written account of a raptors life. I won't tell you what happens, I haven't read the entire book yet either. It is fast paced, and very entertaining. Bakker anthropomorphizes the dinosaurs, which is probably the reason why the book is so enjoyable.

Now, after so many years of trying to read Bakkers other book, I am going to try to find it again. Dinosaur Heresies.

A copy has been sitting on the bookshelf since 96 good read but I don't think I've re-read it in a few years.

My dad go me that book when I was in middle school. I should hunt it down again. Great book.

When you finish Dinosaur Heresies, you might enjoy this:

Out of print, but used hardcover and paperback copies are very cheap in the Amazon Marketplace and at addall.com. Bakker's book is a great introduction to paleontology; Predatory Dinosaurs of the World is like a super-duper Peterson field guide to theropods.
