Raptor vs Ducks

I went duck hunting during my annual pilgrimage to southeast Louisiana to visit family and eat fresh seafood. There were plenty of big gadwall ducks. We didn't limit out but it was fun and the time spent in the blind with the kids is what it's all about. Sitting there in the quiet predawn hours with my boys are the moments that I'll always treasure.

Notice one guy looking up and the others down. The ducks can see that bright white dot and will flare if you pop your head up too soon.

That looks like a great time! I haven't been duck hunting in years and miss it.

But, just to show how jaded (in an amusing way) I have become working at a University with all the students, I thought they were looking down checking their phones... :p

Lol they do that too but there's two things

1) Their college buddies are still sleeping at that time of the morning so there's no one to chat with

2) They are competitive and once they miss a bird because they are distracted they put the phone down.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Looks like a great time with your boys. The Osprey K&T Raptor is one of my favorite knife designs ever. Your Raptor is very handsome. What kind of sheath are you using for it?

Chris did a great job on the knife.

I don't have a sheath yet. I'll probably get Mark at Condos to make me a stacked sheath.

Awesome thread Nola, I am pleased to see the Raptor treated you well when it can time to clean your catch. when you get a chance you should post this up over in my Subforum. Thanks for Sharing!
 
I thought we were cutting up Oregon Ducks.
