I think this is probably my rarest knife. I would really like to know if anyone has ever seen one before???
Has deep lines engraved into bolsteres to give Checkered appearance. The other side is plain on bolsters but has 000 serial number on it and Gipson steel is lightly recessed into timber on handle.
Anyone??

That My Friend, is a thing of beauty. What's with the Safety First emblem? In house factory safety award of some kind? Thanks for letting me drool a little.
Dave

I have owned a few Schrades with the Safety First shield and some with scrolled bolsters, but have never seen on with that scroll or engraving before. She is a beauty! I would probably trade the pick of a litter of beagle pups for that one, it's just that I don't have any pups.

G'Day Tim, I have identical LB5 Safety Award Emblem Mint ,with brass bolsters but without the chequered design. Factory etched on blade is ""Gilbert Southern Dedicated To Safety" with large ornate factory etched G. Obviuosly handed out as factory safety awards.Stunning Timber scales. I hope nothing happened to Gilbert before they could present it.
Yours is fantastic. Hoo Roo

Tim, Now thats a Schrade.
Woof.
Ive seen those stared pins before. I think we have some info on who did these somewhere on the forum.
Great looking knife.

Many industries, transportation companies and railroads gave these out as safety or sales recognition awards. The bolster engraving was an option, but perhaps one of the least requested ones. I've not seen many.

Tim are you talking engraved bolsters on Safety Award knives or factory scrolled bolsters on Schrade knives generally? I have Mint 4 pin LB7 with factory scrolled bolster. Do you wish to provide your email address to me mate. I'm pnlarry@chariot.net.au Hoo Roo

I really just want to know how rare mine with engraved bolsters and safety sheild is, looked through ebay for about 16 months never seen one ever but probably 6 or 7 scrolled ones so if anyone has seen one I would just like to know where thats all as Im curious. Im not suggesting Ive nearly seen them all, thats why I asked.
Larry the scrolled ones are just beautiful? Do you know which artist designed them? Does anyone know how many variations these came in??
