Hello Chaps,

This one arrived today. I had intended it for my son, to stop him stealing mine, but on reflection, I may be greedy!!:D

It is a brand new, unused classic, with ATS 34 blade from early 1996.

Is it unusual to find one like this, or are there more of these around?

I think it feels more comfortable in the hand, than my regular. No reason I can think of, it just does!

Doug

Sort of funny where things turn up ;) That is a nice example of an ATS34 Sebenza that was produced after the official sunset of late 1995 for ATS34. The only downside was the addition of double thumblugs which instead of the original unanodized version that they normally came with. That was the only reason I ever parted with it and it began it's journey. Enjoy, it's a nice one.

As a footnote Savantuk, in case you didn't know that version is actually the precursor to the current regular Sebenza and it's popularity caused CRK to reintroduce the Classic MM.

Howdy Doug,

I don't know about how rare these are or valuable. I would consider this just a regular sebenza. The really scarce/collector ones are the handmade ones...I think some of them were even made from D2.

I'll tell you what though, I have an ATS-34 classic just like the one in your picture that I have had for 3+ yrs now. This is my general kitchen knife, utility, large pocket knife..etc. I like the fact that it does not have the pocket clip (at least mine doesn't). You might also note that there is no scallop cutout on the lock-bar like the new "classic"...I think it was put there to facilitate quicker installaton of the dual thumbstuds option(not sure though).

I got mine a little cheaper becuase the original owner wanted to buy a BG-42 sebbie when they first came out (it was even unused), so it was win win situation for me...my first sebbie.

So far so good...blade has no chips and I like the fact that the blade is polished unlike my BG-42 small sebbie with the tumbled finish.

Congrats! Cheers mate.
