Rare Knife? - Kershaw Speed Bump (Black & Gray handle)

I think this is OK to post here.

I have a Kershaw Speed Bump 1595 (Black and Gray Handle, not the G-10 handle) that I have contemplated selling to fund another knife. To get an idea of the value, I searched the large auction website, and they have one listed for $249! I see many of the G-10 versions selling for around $60 or so.

Now that being said, do I have something rare or is this a classic auction overprice?

Thanks!

Whatup, Bob? Just a headsup, knife values can't be discussed by anyone lower than a Gold member.

Yep, and wasn't trying to discuss that value of my knife in anyway, was more trying to find out if it is rare or not.

Yeah I figured as much, man. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Bumps.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable will come along.

Maybe you can ask what the model number is for a black/gray Speed Bump, and how many were made.

After finding that out, you have to consider the condition of your knife: Do you have the box? Does it have any blemishes? Is it centered and has solid lock up?

Maybe with those answers you can look for the price of your knife on other websites, forums, or auction sites.

I have one myself, it seems to me they were discontinued not very long after production started, so the Santoprene handled ones seem to be rarer, indeed. Not sure how many were made but that price has been steady for awhile. Holding on to mine.

Good idea. I have contacted KAI and will await their response.

Condition of the knife is great, solid lockup, etc. and only cut a few things over the years. The box was discarded long ago.

I've been searching the web high and low, and every Speed Bump I have found is the G-10 handle, other than the one I have now located on the auction site.

As I've stated in the recent past, the factory is limited in what they will share as far as production numbers. History on disco'd knives will have limited information as well.

As to the OP, the Speed Bump was a regular catalog item. Not overly rare. It production numbers were the highest when comparing the Speed/Spec Bump variations.

Bob, if the mods decides this thread is against the rules (seems to me to be ok but I'm not a mod) email me (by clicking on my name). I have one and we can discuss further, you've peaked my interest.

Even in the gray/black handle combinations? I've seen dozens upon dozens of the G-10 handles listed & sold on the secondary markets, but only 1 with gray/black handle.

Thanks for the responses!!
