I am looking to buy a knife of good quality with a wood handle. Anything 3 inches or bigger. I can only afford to spend $30-$70.

I love Kershaws, but am not too interested in the gut hook on a kaper. The splinter & nakamura are gorgeous, but a little out of my price range.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Assisted opening and serrated would be REALLY great, but I'm coming to realize that may be too much to ask :-P

Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but you're sure to get a whole lotta answers. People here tend to get excited about women showing interest in knives. Welcome to the forums:).

Well thank ya! I'd be thrilled if ya'll could help me find something...I haven't had much luck this far.

Also, forgot to mention, would like it to be a folding knife.

There are a bunch of good knives in that price range. To me the best combination of ergonomics, quality, blade steel, utility etc would be a Spydercom delica or endura. from forty to sixty something depending on which one you get, and where you get it. You don't need e-bay to get the best deals, just the internet. Kershaw makes nice knives also. These would be the assisted openers you were talking about. Once again different models for different prices.

If you can, decide which needs you require in a knife so you can determine how strong of a knife to get. Your price range is doable, and don't let people talk you into spending more than you want to.

The more information you give( about knifes uses & your needs), the easier it will be to reccomend specific models for you to look at. Try to filter out mentally the people that are giving you impractical advice, or just blindly reccomending their favorite brand.

There are reasons that Spydercos, kershaws, and benchmades out sell, or get reccomended more than other brands here. They are companies that have been proving themselves over the last 5 to 10 years. Some companies recognized as good to the best 10 years ago don't even exist, or aren't what they used to be.

Also, learn to use the search feature. It really can be your friend. Good luck, Regards, Joe

Edit: BTW, I wasn't even thinking about woodel handles. Still dooable but limiting at your price range.

You might want to consider a mini-cyclone - extremly good woring knife / AO / fine steel and a company that stands behind the products they make .Might not be a crazy project to add wood scales to the non-clip side of the knife and this could improve the only aspect of this knife I don't care for -the slightly slipery feel of the all metal scales.

I am assuming you want it for hunting , or outdoors use ?

What about the classic and loved Buck 110 ?

Easily in your price range , well built and solid with a great reputation.

Also, go to Boker's web-site. They have a nice selection. Good hunting!
