I have always loved the look of the Queen #98 Skinner. It has been done in winterbottom bone and/or delrin, and also in their very nice amber carved stag bone. But for whatever reason (?) I just never bought one. From what has been shown on this forum, it is probably an old Marbles pattern fixed blade, although I'm not sure which came first, it or the Queen.

Well, I finally saw something on the auction site which got me off my duff. I bid on and won (for a very reasonable amount, too!) this 1 of 11 stag handled #98. In conversing with the seller, I found out it was a very limited run by Ken Daniels (now of GEC) when he worked at Queen, around or slightly before the year 2000. No idea what steel was used, although it seems to be stainless, as there are no markings of any kind on the knife. The box has their Queen Steel logos all over it. If anyone has any info to add, I would be delighted to hear it. Enjoy the pictures!

Nice one, Jeff. Much like the old Marble's "Woodcraft" which dates back to the early part of the last century.
(You can see an illustration of the pattern in Horace Kephart's classic "Camping & Woodcraft".)

Not familiar with Queen's history with knives of this pattern.

For comparison, here's a relatively recent Marble's in 52100 & Stag I've had for several years:

Very nice, Elliott, I may have to look for one of those to keep mine company, sort of a long, lost cousin!

Jeff, That's an excellent looking knife! Stag looks great,
I know you'll enjoy that one! Congrats...
