Made in SA and apparently very early due to no ' Made in South Africa ' stamp on the right hand side of the blade..

If you look closely at the last picture you can see the machining marks above the grind.. Which I believe is a characteristic of the SA knives Reeve made..

Any input regarding further info on this piece and its history would be apprieciated..

Andy.

I have one of those that I bought way back. I know it's the same style due to the endcap. I have been looking for a value for the knife. I don't plan on selling it, but would like to know what it is worth.

I thought I had a fluke, glad to know that other folks have this knife as well.

Wow--that is a gorgeous knife Andy. What a fantastic addition to your collection!

I cant help with the value.. I'de like to know also..

Found out today that Reeve made these is SA in the 80's he then tried to ship to the States but was refused until he stamped them with the country of origin.. Hence you see some SA knives with and without the 'Made in South Africa' stamp on the right hand side of the blade..

If anyone knows this to be wrong please come in and shoot me down..

I picked mine up in Florida about 92/93, and it didn't have any SA markings. I have the card and I think it had a s/n of 47. I'll look at it tonight and try to post some pics.

The machining marks were present on the early one piece knives marked "Made in USA" that I purchased in the early 1990s as well. Incidentally, even today's One Piece Range knife blanks come from South Africa, from one of Chris and Anne's long time friends and business associates. CRK then grinds the blades and portions of the handle, heat treats, applies KG GunKote, and sharpens. That being the case, all of us that own even a recently purchased one piece knife have a product that is, in no small part, made in South Africa.

Well gents, I'm sorry to say that I looked at my Tanto, and it's made in the USA. I still like it, and will be keeping it. I can't seem to post photos at this time. The s/n is 46. Hopefully we can find pricing info on these since they are a tanto version that doesn't seem to be offered anymore. Mine has a 7" blade.
