Rarest handle material???

With all the recent talk of the old style green linen it has lead me to believe that it might be the rarest of all Busse handle material.

I know if there was a thread started wanting to see snakeskin or black paper there would be way more pics than the thread that was started to see green linen. Alot of the pics in the gl thread are of the newer gl but the old stuff is very rare it seems to me.

So what do you HOGs think, is the "OLD" style green linen the rarest handle material ever or do you think its something else.

This is the material I am talking about,

True Blaze Orange G-10 was only offerred on the OJ Warden and no other styles as far as I know. Plus it was supposedly only 100 knife run. Even the Coyote and Black has been on a couple of different knives (BAD and Ganzaa ASH Variants). The Green Linen and Black Paper used to be offerrings that you could choose, so I bet there's a lot of those lying around comparatively.

Good point Soulrack, I always seem to forget about the OJ warden.
Could be because thet are so rare huh??:o

Only one GIN-SOAKED Micarta handle was made and Jerry has that one. :D
There are only 7 Red G-10 GW's, correct??
Got one.:)

Nope, were did you here that:confused: They were very few of these though.

Doby, I agree, The OLD style Green Linen is very rare, I only have it on the .140 GW. Looks nothing like the new greyish GL.
Of all the production slabs the Black Paper is also getting hard to find, but like you, I think the old school GL may be the hardest to find.

Ken44---I thought I saw that info in the inventory list that lunde posted??

I don't think anyone but Jerry, Garth and Skunk really knows that info...and they've prolly forgot by now:p And if not, the'll never tell us anyway. But I know of about 7 Reds, so I would think there were at least 20 made???

I once tried to figure out just how many of the .140 GL's were made. Like the Red, it wasn't many, but could never find the exact amount made.

What about the Fugley AK ?

I would also suggest that the Ram's Horn handle is a rare one.
Horn with MP-45 Plastic Damascus bolsters even more rare.

Then there are the 6 Piano Keys (5 regular, 1 Grand) with MP-45 and Ivory Micarta.

Hate you:grumpy:

I was talking more about the production stuff, not the speacialized materials.

But they are nice!!

For regular production, the scales on the OJ Warden get my vote. Which happens to be one of my very favorite knives. It's too bad those solid orange G10 scales aren't used more often, because they look great, age/ wear well, and are very functional, in that it's hard to lose a knife with handles that bright. Busse probably doesn't use regular orange G10 because it's "too common"- lots of makers use that same G10. (although lots of makers use regular black or tan canvas all the time)

My OJ warden is looking pretty awesome these days- she's been beaten to hell many, many times, and keeps asking for more.
