I inherited this 110 and sheath. I wanted to know how old it is and how rare. I'm not looking to sell it, but a ballpark figure of how much it's worth (I plan on insuring all of my knives) would help.
No dots or date marks. Two pins in the scales. Blockier handle than current 110s.
No date code (other side of the blade is blank)...
Left side of the knife. The two brass pins on the handle scales are flush-fitting. The stainless lockbar pin sticks out and is riveted. The numbers are the best way I have of showing close-ups of the bolsters without getting confusing.
Nice and shiny...
Right side...
A few scratches...
The sheath is black leather, all one piece except for the belt loop...
The back...
BUCK embossed over the snap...
110 embossed on the back, under the belt loop...
I didn't really need another photo of the belt loop, but this one shows the true color of the sheath best...
The knife in sheath. The sheath shown has some wear on it; I also have a new one (the exact same sheath) with no wear or wrinkles from closing. The new one has never had a knife in it or been closed.
About the knife: The lock-up is solid. My newer 110s have a tad of blade play against the lock (nothing out of spec, normal for a lockback) but this one doesn't. The blade is shaving sharp. The photos you see are how I received it; I haven't polished it or done any work. I might polish the bolsters with simichrome. I've found out that the two 1/16" pins were used from 1974-1980, and that the blade steel is either 440C or 425M. That style sheath was available from 1994-1998 with the 110; from 1998-2002 you could get the sheath separate. So neither of the sheaths are original to the knife. Both of the sheaths have a small felt tab on the inside to protect the knife from the metal snap. Any additional information?
