Here's a picture of a rasp hawk that J.Neilson helped me forge at the last NECKA hammer-in.

Very nice Jerry. Getting the weld in front of the eye is always the hard part. Looks like you nailed it!

That comes from a fella that really knows his forging (not paper forging)! Looks really good, and to me, looks like a lot of them looked back then. No, IG, I wasn't around back then.

looks awesome Jerry! looks like you have the forging bug brother!

No, IG, I wasn't around back then.

i beg to differ...you ever take a good close look at him! :p :D
and all this time i thought it was the relish!

Nice one Jerry! Tell us some more about it. Whats the handle?

Thanks for the kind words.

J. did most of the forging, I got it bent up and welded then he did the final shaping. I finished it from there.

The handle is a piece of curley maple cut from a tree in my backyard. It has been sitting around for a few years, and I didnt know how much figure it really had. I also added the leather and twisted wire wrap. I really liked doing this and hope to do a lot more of them.

I resemble that remark! Come to think of it, so does IG!

Very cool Jerry. That finished up very nice. Is there and chance of getting a close up of the top half (head and wrap) ? I've been looking forward to seeing how this came out. You did a great job on it. By the way, I didn't do that much to it. Jerry keep 'em coming.

I like doing the rasp hawks. The texture is a real bonus and most of the ones I've tested are really good steel.

really inspiring work! Makes me want to get off my butt and toss that rasp I've had for one of those into the forge.

pretty nice, I know from experiance of not finishing a welded hawk yet just what a pain it is to get the weld rite. Good job, now go make some more!
