The Seal Team Elite and Seal Pup Elite are both advertised as having rasps along the spine for notching wood, (eg., to manufacture snares and traps) but I'm skeptical as to their effectiveness. My only fixed-blade bush knives thus far have been a Chris Reeve Aviator and a Tom Brown Tracker, with dedicated saw edges that work well for this purpose. But I'm looking at reentering the circle of SOG owners. (A PEII was my first EDC, so a Seal knife would be terrifically welcome in my collection)
My only qualm thus far is the rasp; I really do appreciate a quick and effective way of notching my traps - it saves time, and if I don't have as much work or handling to do, I don't leave as much of my scent on the trap. So I tend to lean away from a knife that can't provide this.
Does anybody know how well the rasp works, if at all?
