Rassenti Nirvana Lock up

far as lockbar placement? looks fine to me. can't comment from that picture on angles and such. I prefer a deeper liner/frame lockbar lockup. still room for adjusting deeper over time.
Yup, looks great to me 👌
Thanks so much for the input guys! It's nice to have some peace of mind knowing it looks good 🙂
Looks awful, send it to me for "extensive testing" 😁
Sorry man, if it wasn't for jbmonkey and WValtakis saying it looks good, I would have sent it your way. Blame them 😉
I feel like this is a humble brag by the OP 😉
Haha not at all! 😁 I just saw a post in a group that got me thinking about lockbar placement and wanted to check mine.

Hey, now that we are in off topic. I'm planning to infuse some vodka and a bottle of tequila with some of those persimmons. My brother is going to make some jam. Nobody here has ever had one and we're all losing our shit over them. 🤣
I used some 190 ever clear with some of the peel from my blood oranges, it made some fun stuff after it soaked a few weeks! Too hot to sip, but mixed real nice! 😂

Your knife looks great, OP.

I had a Nirvana with bad lock up (didn’t look like yours, OP) and terrible lock stick. Sent it in to Golden and they said they couldn’t fix it and wouldn’t return the knife but gave me a Spyderco store voucher for full MSRP for the knife.

I felt ok at the time and picked out some other stuff, but dang I still wish I had that sexai knife. I look every now and then and the few out there are outrageous. I’ve heard that fully half the Nirvanas made are unusable or have been destroyed by Spyderco.

I’d buy a re-release with CQI…

Are you talking about the Nirvana from Rassenti's shop or the Spyderco version?

Don't see the lines that are on my Spyderco version in the OP's pic. So, I assume it's the shop version but FWIW this is what my Nirvana looks like:

100% lockup with no lock stick without a lock bar insert. 😊

Why couldn't they do that w/the Spyderco Paysan? Sold my Paysan & won't buy another because of its lock stick problem. 🤷‍♂️

Beautiful knife man! And yeah, you're right, I've been talking about the Nirvana from Rassenti's shop :)

And here's a few pics for you guys!

That's on bad mofo! I've always loved those things. The lockup looks perfect too.

And a very expensive knife!! About 3x's the value of the Spyderco based on what I just saw on ACK. 😲

Makes sense considering it is the full custom version that the Spyderco collab is based off of. I've always thought Rassenti prices on the secondary market are very reasonable for what you get compared to a lot of other custom makers. The other thing to remember is that AZCK is a consignment shop who keeps 25% of the sale price. Somebody still pays that price, but the seller only receives 75% of it. That motivates a lot of their sellers to increase their prices to take home what they feel is fair rather than just selling person-to-person for that fair price.

Yes, I understand that ACK deducts 25% of sales price for themselves & that sellers try to raise their asking prices there to make up that fee but no one is going to pay 25% more than what a knife is "worth" in the open market -- note the many knives on ACK that go unsold for so long that they get delisted.

-----------------------------------

Just remember that the basic rule in valuation is that something is that something is "worth" what a "willing" buyer is willing to pay & what a "willing" seller is willing to accept in payment for the item. So, if people are currently willing to pay $2k-$2.5 for a custom Rassenti, then that's what they're worth .

-----------------------------------

I often check prices on EB & ACK where I can see the asking & selling prices with retail pricing & I find that the selling prices on ACK are consistent with each other & retail pricing for the knives that I'm interested in & have bought.

For example, I just purchased a "previously owned" ZT0300 w/o box in "good" condition for $275 and a NIB Pro-Tech Godfather Jigged DLC Swat Auto for $205 from ACK, which are at/below the FMV's for these knives.

So, just because ACK charges a 25% selling fee doesn't mean that the knives there are over-priced.

It just means that the seller gets a lot less than he like to get for his knife. 🤷‍♂️

-------------------------------------

BTW, the same thing applies to auctions where the auctioneers collect fees from both the buyer & seller on every transaction.

For example, Sotheby's charges a 10% to the seller & 20% to the buyer on lower priced transactions which means they're collecting a min of 30% on such transactions. Bonham's charges the seller 28% up to $50k & doesn't disclose it's sellers fee but you can assume it's at least 10% for smaller transactions, which is pretty typical for auction houses, or a total of 38% on such transactions.
