Ok so I just got a new job so I have a little bit of a knife budget again so I decided to spend this rainy day to do a little shopping that has been long delayed. Went looking for some jeans and work clothes and comfortable shoes and on my way back stopped by the little booth in a local antique mall that acts as my local knife shop. Not much of selection, a few spydercos, bucks, kershaw, a few ontarios and RATs, cold steel and some of the other usual suspects. I wasnt looking for a knife for any specific purpose just somethin to celebrate the new job and flick and fondle. After checking out a few of the spydies and such I looked over in the top corner of the display which was covered by a bunch of random crap and saw a little group of RAT-1's and after checkin it out for a minute and seeing that they were on sale for $34.00(ive seen them online for cheaper but I figured after I factored in shipping and the cost of instant gratification I was coming out alright) I got one. I have to say that after holding the spyderco tenacious and this back to back this big boy wins hands down. Great ergos, easy to flick, no blade play and excellent detent and mine is razor sharp out of the box. This blade is a real bargain and I think it just bumped my Buck 110 for my big weekend edc. Sorry for the rambling story but im pumped about this blade and cant wait for the rain to quit so i can get out and put it through its paces!

Nice, I was looking for made in the USA(the Ontario Knife Company is in my hone town and I know 80+% of the people that work there and I can stop by the office and if its made in the USA pick one up...My dad used to work there to boot :) ) so I wanted a knife made in my "home town" (which I no longer live in but visit regularly) I REALLY liked the look of the RAT but then I found that it wasnt made in the USA(nor for $30 did I figure it was but you never know...my Kershaw Leek was also $30 and WAS made in the USA) and looked at the Apache which my be just a bit big for EDC (maybe good for a special purpose carry like camping or something and will be high on next to get list) and the RAT was just about perfect...but researched and saw not made here(id already had a OK Utilitac and like it but thats just not what I was looking for this go around and ended up with a Ritter Mini Grip) Next knife will be a RAT though!

Even though I'm not a fan of liner locks , I can't stop carrying this knife. I absolutely love it.
I think it's the best folder going under $40 , along with the Kabar Dozier series.

You could have got it for $26 with free two-three day shipping depending on where you are, but regardless of whether or not you got the best price possible, no one can say you didn't get a deal! I love my Rat 1s, and my girlfriend loves her Rat 2.
