Got the Ontario Rat 1 folder.

Love the knife, fast deployment, solid lockup, decent steel, good weight.

But goddamn do I hate the slippy handles. Are the handles zytel or frn ? Different sources showing different things and ontarios home site not saying anything about the handle.

I wanted to grind anso on it. Which is very easy on g-10. But I havent heard people doing it with the more plastic-y materials. Does it just heat up and clog up ?

I believe they are nylon. If you want a sick anso pattern, consider buying some layered G10 and replacing the regular scales with that. I imagine you wouldn't have too much of a problem working with the stock scales though, I used my dremel to form some ABS plastic and had no major issues.

Im going to order some micarta and g10 scales. But will it work ? Will it clog up the dremel, kinda melt around the working area.. wish I had some practice piece. Does regular plastic come close to this stuff to practice on ?

Just don't hold the dremel on the piece for more than a few seconds at a time, that will keep it from building up too much heat.

I ground the zytel handles on the Crkt m16 04z a bit more deeply, where the lockbar is. Zytel/plastics really dont like being ground. It goes fast, doesnt go very pretty and ends up with weird edges that you have to cut down with another blade.

Dont grind plastic handles ! Thank god I tested it on something small first before doing a full scale
