Rat 2 D2 Lock-up

I recently acquired a new Rat 2 in D2. My AUS-8 Rat 2's lock-up is right about the 50% mark. My new D2 Rat 2's lock-up is pretty much at 100% and it looks to me like the only reason it doesn't go farther is because the detent ball is hitting the opposite liner. Is this normal on the D2 models? The lock-up is tight (for now), I'm just concerned there is no room for wear. Thanks.

I wouldn't say that's normal regardless of the steel. I've had several Rat 1's and a couple of Rat 2's in both AUS-8 and D2 and all of them have had nice early lock-up.

Contact OKC and see if they consider that a warranty issue.

Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely reach out to OKC and see what they say.

MaxFisher,

The lockup doesn't sound right. Have you dis-assembled the knife? There may be something not aligned. If you haven't, there is something not right.
Either way, please call our 1-800 number or e-contact us (Please see our website). We will make it right for you.
Hope this helps.

I had a Rat 2 that locked up to early, about half the liner.
I took it apart and there was an extra nylon washer on one side, two instead of one.
I just removed it, then assembled and centered, it's perfect now.

Mine started out with a late lockup and after a modest amount of use has moved over to about 95%. There's no play. I think I'll just continue to use and if it develops play I'll contact OKC.
