I'm a die-hard Spyderco "fanboy" most would say but I just can't bring myself to carry my Spydercos in the steel shop where I work. My Opinel 6 handles the work load adequately but I have been wanting a folder for awhile.

All of my research on the "perfect budget folder" led me to the Tenacious and Ontario Rat. I obviously tried the Tenacious first being such a Spyderco fan. It certainly is a quality knife for the money. If it had been in VG10, I would be in love. Even with such excellent ergos, and G10 grips it wasn't for me.

I was passing through the Smoky Mountains taking my son to Dollywood for the first time. I took about 5 minutes of "me" time and stopped by the Smoky Mountain Knifeworks to look at a Rat 1. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was too much knife to comfortably carry for 10 hours a day in the pocket but when I handled the Rat 2 it was love at first sight. This is one hell of knife for the money. It might be the sharpest knife out of the box I've owned and that is saying something. The quality is temendous for $32 otd. I went slumming on my Spydercos and found a real jewel. I definitely see why they get so much love, I can't keep it in my pocket.

That is a great looking knife, found a seller that has one around the 28 dollar mark shipped, may have to investigate further,...:D
