Saw a RAT 3 said to be made in that steel of 1074/1075 with wooden handle and leather sheath.

With all the "NO POSTING NON SUBSCRIBING PLACES" or other rules like that I guess I can't say where I saw it.

abelasCay me no say.

Was there a picture with the steel marked on the blade? The only rat3 I’ve seen wood(walnut) handles and leather sheath (very well made) was a limited in d2 steel. Of course, I don’t know every model ever made, and usually only find out about a model once it’s been discontinued

Yes, I saw a run of those for a specific retailer. I dont think OKC switched steels, it was just for that customer. I have some Condor knives in a 1070 class steel and they cut and sharpen just fine. The only drawback is trying to get a spark with a chert stone. It is really easy with OKC 1095. YMMV

I've wondered about that too, since I saw the Rat 3 at the same big outdoor store.

It's a nice looking knife/sheath combo and less expensive than the 1095 model.

Like Franco, I have some Condors in 1075 and they're great. I'm very very tempted by this version.

I'm hoping that just like they do with Buck, they make an Alaskan Guide model in S30v and DLC with leather sheath. That would be dead sexy...

If I hadn’t bought the tak mod I might have considered this one, though I don’t have the 1095 rat3 yet. If the handle slabs are interchangeable, and micarta replacements available from Ontario, I would have already bought this version.

The condor moonshiner, 1075, walnut and leather for ~$50, can’t be outdone north of Santa Ana, El Salvador. If I could figure out whether “sculpted vents” means the blade is forged, I still wouldn’t know any more about how knives are made. Ditto on the s30v version, especially for the smallish rat3!
