RAT-3 sheath too tight

My RAT-3 arrived yesterday. The knife seems great, but the sheath is way too tight. It takes two hands and lots of force to get the knife out. I'm afraid one of these times I'm going to fling it across the room.

It's almost impossible to get the knife out when the sheath is clipped to my belt.

Has anyone else gotten a RAT-3 sheath like this? Is there a way to loosen it? Should I sand the inside of the sheath where it grips the knife handle?

In the box should be a small white instruction card. It llustrates the use of thumb and fingers to "pop" the knife free. The other side illustrates the tec-loc. I just went and tried my Rat-3 and I can't remove it by wrenching with two hands, but can "pop" it free. I believe it is designed to be carried inverted and so is quite tight. Seems simple, but hey, they had to actually write it down. It's a great knife BTW. Really hope this helps.

My sheath is the same. When I attempt to draw my knife, with the clip attached to my belt, I get te knife and sheath. My solution: Buy an aftermarket sheath.

It seems something was lost between the Kydex prototype and the production plastic version.

I agree with Patrick James with regard to Bob Dozier's sheathes. I have several of them and they are very well made. Be advised though, that Dozier's IWB sheath does not lock securely to your belt. I am not sure how to explain it but the clip that goes over your belt lacks he hook that goes under the belt prventing the sheath from off the belt with you draw the knife.

I really like Bob's horizontal belt carry sheath. Very secure.

You can see these sheathes at www.Doziersknives.com.

i did this with a becker necker sheath. wait till your wife leaves the house. get a large pot, add water and bring to boil. get a pair of tongs and dip the kydex into the water for about a minute, remove it and grab it with a cloth, CAREFULLY insert knife and wiggle a little to expand the kydex. let cool and try fit. if still too tight the repeat. if too loose reheat and press gently on the sides to tighten. may take a couple of tries but works well. later, ahgar
if you either cut your hand off, ruin the sheath, or get a divorce i am not responsible.
