Here is a kind of new concept I came up with for sheaths. I'd like to know what you guys think. I made this drop down model to be out of the way, and to hold the tools you'll see. It is surprisingly stable and doesn't flop around as much as one might think. The drop down feature is actually really nice for sitting down... not unlike a dangler.

BTW, I cut my head off while making this sheath, been kinda dizzy lately....hoping it will grow back soon ;)

I put 4 double sided grommets on this baby, one is located under the top loop, you can get to it by lifting up the top loop.

There are 2 grommets on the sheath itself. 1 on the bottom and one on the top. With the 2 on the drop down portion, you can lash this to your backpack or whatever you want

This super sheath is for the Ontario Rat-5 in 1095.
The loops are for Armageddon Firesteel and Mag. bar
the bottom loop is for an Eze-Lap.
What do ya' think?

Your leather work is very nice but I don't care for the design. If you were wearing it in the woods I think it would catch on things. Having all the included items handy comes at too high of a price regarding practicality. I would move the sheath to a vertical, belt attached position and lose either the pouch, or the loops.
I think the craftsmanship is excellent but I guess I favor more traditional designs in leather sheaths.

hey rob, i think it great that you think outside the box so to speak, i think i few weeks in the woods and see if it works for YOU.

I like it! If you're wearing a pack belt, you can use a vertical belt sheath, but it could be uncomfortable and you can't access it without taking the belt off. This looks like it would work quite well giving you access to the knife. I'm interested to see how it works out with some time in the bush. I'm leaning more to horizontal sheaths the more I'm outdoors. Very interesting concept that has a lot of potential...

I like your leather work, cept I think your sharp corners should be rounded.
The design I don't think is very practical for a walk in the woods. Looks like there will be a lot of banging of the knife against your......well, whatever gets in it's path.
If you're gonna carry that many fire starter thingys, how bout a separate pouch for them in your pack?

But again, I like your craftsmanship.

thanks for the feedback...it is really fun to come up with new ideas every now and then....helps keep me sharp
