Rat-5 refinish?

Have a rat5 with a black coated finish that can be used as a fingernail file. Any suggestions to smooth it out. I'm contemplating stripping the coating and cold blueing. Has anyone done this?

Yaa I've thought of that also..

The Ontario Machetes have the same type of finish..What I do on them is spray a little WD40 on the blade,, and go over it with 000 steel wool..
That takes all that nasty roughness off,,but didn't hurt the actualy protective oxide..

I'm going to do this on my Rat 5 as well...
