I recently purchased a BK7 and as soon as my son saw it he disarmed me. Drat!! Therefore, I am considering a RAT 7 because I truly embrace diversity...to a point! What I am asking is for opinions on the RAT 7. as opposed the the BK7 I am also considering a BK2. HELP!!!!

Get a BK9. Not only will you have diversity of Becker knife models, you will have a bigger one than your son. ;)

I have a BK9 and a Rat 5. There are two things I prefer about Beckers over Rats and they're both things that required experience to learn about. First up; choils, I thought it would be good for choking up on the edge but after some use I discovered that I'd rather have a handle that goes close to the edge for control and because choils get hung up on what I'm cutting. Secondly, Rats are not hollowed out under the scales which makes for a much heavier knife and balance which makes it more likely to be left behind when packing for an extended jaunt. I prefer Beckers all the way, YMMV.
