I am not sure which steel to go for.
I am going to get a Ontario RAT 7, but should I prefer 1095 or D2 steel? As I understand 1095 should be better for chopping since it offers more impact resistance. Is the difference really relevant.
I own a RTAK and a TAK 1, both made form 1095 and I am really happy with them. My first RTAK chipped during chopping but the replacement I got is really excellent. Since I had the chipping experience I tested it extensively (including throwing :D ) and it seems just perfect.
How will D2 perform?
Regards from Switzerland,
Markus
